Champion taking signups for numbers

Champion Motor Speedway is taking verbal commitments for car numbers for the 2004 season.

Officials encourage drivers to call or e-mail them as soon as possible to let them know each person's intentions and to reserve their number. New drivers are waiting for last year's drivers to confirm their numbers before they finish their number decals.

The following is a schedule of driver meeting dates and times to review the 2004 division rules, the general track rules and to just get acquainted with each other.

Registration will be available at the driver's meetings.

The first meeting will be held Jan. 31 at the Plaza Hotel, 801 S. Carson St. From noon-1 p.m. are Legends and Bandoleros; 1-2 p.m. are Hornets, Junior Hornets and Queen Beez; 2-3 p.m. are Street Stocks and 3-4 p.m. are Bombers, Enduro, Open Comp Figure 8s and Destruction Derby.

A meeting on Feb. 7 will be geared for Limited Late Models, from noon-1 p.m.; Great American Modifieds from 1-2 p.m., and Super Late Models from 2-3 p.m.
