There was a lot of horsing around at Educare Academy on Thursday morning.

Sporting a paper mane and tail, 5-year-old Cole McDannald demonstrated for his classmates the sound a horse makes.

"Neigh!" he shouted, throwing his head back. "I heard it from real horses."

The school's 4- and 5-year-old students donned their horsey accessories in preparation for tonight's circus and barbecue.

Every year, the school holds a circus, in which children dress and act as the animals.

"We're going to have lions and bears. And lions are jumping through hoops," Cole explained.

There will also be a free barbecue, a clown and a jump house for the kids. It will be open to the community.

"The clown is going to blow balloons," said Kayla Blackwell, 4.

Educare Academy will become Carson City Montessori School in the fall. The charter is sponsored through the Carson City School District.
