Aaron Heberger of the Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club has virtually assured himself a spot in the National High School Finals Rodeo championship go-round in calf roping.

The Galena High graduate posted a time of 13.494 seconds to take fifth in his go-round on Saturday. With just one go-round left to go on Saturday night, Heberger stood eighth overall in the standings at 25.426 seconds. The top 20 advance to today's championship go-round.

Heberger's time of 6.237 seconds in steer wrestling also was the eighth best in the second round going into Saturday night's go-round.

Also for the Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club, Keston Denny, who just completed his junior year at Douglas High, didn't fare as well as he failed to score in steer wrestling on Saturday and won't advance to the championship go-round. Denny posted a time of 5.894 seconds in his first go-round.

Nevada was fifth in the overall standings (3,020 points) behind Texas (5,397), Utah (4,437), Wyoming (3,512.5) and New Mexico (3,185). Nevada's boys were fourth (2,460) behind Texas (3,015), New Mexico (2,640) and Utah (2,542).
