What's closed Thanksgiving

State offices and most Carson City government offices will be closed Thanksgiving Day. There will be no school for Carson City, Lyon, Storey or Douglas school district students.

Western Nevada Community College campuses and learning centers in Carson City, Fallon, Minden, Fernley, Hawthorne, Lovelock, Smith Valley and Yerington will be closed on Thursday and Friday to observe the Thanksgiving holiday. There are no classes today, although campus offices will be open. WNCC classes resume Monday.

The Carson City Marriage Bureau, 885 E. Musser St., will be closed Thursday and open Friday.

The front counter of the Carson City Sheriff's Department will be closed Thursday, and there will be no visitation at the Carson City Jail.

The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be closed Thursday and open Friday.

The Storey County Senior Center will be open Thursday and closed Friday.

Dayton, Douglas County, Silver Springs and Fernley senior centers will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The marriage bureau and other county offices in Lyon will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The Carson City, Douglas County and Lyon County public libraries will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The U.S. Post Office and its retail stations will be closed Thursday and open Friday. Only express mail will be delivered Thursday. Most banks also will be closed for Thanksgiving.

Two public transit services, citifare and PRIDE, will be modified Thursday. Citifare that serves the Reno/Sparks area will operate on a Sunday schedule. PRIDE Carson City service will not operate. Call 348-RIDE for complete schedules and information.
