Mary A. Gardner, 84, a Minden resident for the past 40 years, died Sept. 9, 2004, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Pueblo, Colo., to James and Ruth Doiel.
She married Thomas Gardner. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Before moving to Minden, she lived in Stateline.
Mrs. Gardner enjoyed reading and gardening.
Among her survivors are her son, James Alexander of Gardnerville; daughter, Constance Alexander of Minden; sister, Virginia McElrath of Weiser, Idaho; brother, James Doiel of Downey, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A private service will be held.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
