A memorial service for Harold E. Hansen Jr., 77, a Carson City resident for more than 50 years, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Mr. Hansen died Sept. 17, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Yuma, Ariz., to Harold E. and Bertha A. Davidson Hansen.

He graduated from high school in Henderson and received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from West Coast University in Los Angeles.

He married Patricia Mueller Oct. 15, 1949, in Henderson.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Los Angeles for four years, coming from Henderson.

Mr. Hansen worked as a Highway Engineer III for the Nevada State Department of Transportation for 30 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Carson Model A Club, Carson Studebaker Club and he enjoyed restoring old cars.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Among his survivors are his wife and son, David E., both of Carson City; sisters Margaret McGoodwin of Dayton and Evelyn Kennard of Minden; brothers Charles of Reno and Stephen of Lake Havasu, Ariz. and grandson Logan Hansen of Carson City.

Burial will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
