Lauren Costella, swimming for the Carson Tigersharks, had an encouraging effort in the 800-meter freestyle at the U.S. National Championships on Wednesday in Irvine, Calif.
Costella came into the event seeded 40th with a time of eight minutes, 55.32 seconds and finished 24th in 8:50.55. Costella will swim in the 1,500 free on Sunday, the final day of the meet. Costella, a two-time national champion in the event, is seeded seventh.
