GALENA SWEEPS
The Galena softball team swept a doubleheader from Elko, winning 5-2 and 18-2. In the opener, Danelle Moropolous hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to give the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead.
Galena led 3-2 in the seventh when Alicia Craft doubled after a 12-pitch at bat and eventually scored. Michelle Drury added an RBI double to make it 5-2. Alicia Craft doubled twice and Kayla Craft added a double for the Grizzlies. Justine Sargent was the winning pitcher.
The Grizzlies used an eight-run seventh inning to break the game wide open in the nightcap. Jordan Williams was the winning pitcher.
