Crosstumblers Gymnasts began its 2005 USAIGC season with success. In the first meet of the season held on April 24 at Crosstumblers Gymnastics, the entire team qualified to the USAIGC State Championships to be held on June 5 in Santa Rosa, California.
Carson High School senior Danielle Hollenbeck-Pringle won the Silver Optional Division with a 31.50, just three weeks after placing 10th as a level 7 in the USAG Nevada State Championships. She also claimed first on vault (8.0) and the uneven bars (8.1).
Her teammate, Michelle McDonald, placed second in the all-around with a 31.20 in her first competition in a year. McDonald also placed first on balance beam (7.8) despite two falls and first on floor (8.6).
In the Bronze Optional division, 13-year-old Sarah Melia took top honors. With a graceful and mature style combined with powerful dynamics, Melia took first in the all- around with a 33.55, as well as firsts on vault (8.2), beam (8.8) and floor exercise (8.55). She also specialized on floor in the Silver Optional division where she placed third with an 8.2.
Katie Welton earned first place on bars with a beautifully connected routine earning an 8.65. Welton also placed second on vault (8.1) and fourth all-around (32.25).
Fourteen-year-old Kayla Skog also did quite well despite battling nerves. Skog's beautiful presentation earned her second on floor (8.4) and third on beam (8.4) despite mistakes and proved her to be a force to reckon with in the future. She also placed third on vault (7.7) and third in the all-Around with a 32.30.
Also competing for Crosstumblers were Sarah Jones who placed third on bars (8.4) and fourth on floor (8.2), Hayley Canfield third on beam (8.4) and fourth on bars (8.25) and floor (8.05), and Jordyn Pickering fourth on vault (7.4) and beam (8.2).
