The Blue Thunder Marching Band's competition season has come to a resounding end. At the Governor's Cup Competition, Oct. 29 at the University of Nevada, Reno, the band took first in class.

They also won for best percussion, best woodwind and best brass.

"There were a lot of great bands there," said Band Director Felicia Wirgau. "Out of the all the competitions we went to in Nevada, this was the most competitive."

Carson High's band performed seamlessly, she said.

"It was the best performance all year," said Wirgau. "I didn't think we could top Eugene, Ore., but we did."

The Blue Thunder Band took second place overall among 14 bands that competed in Eugene's Festival of Bands. Winter guard and winter drum line are starting, and competition for those will start in the spring.
