Junior PeeWees improve to 4-0

The Carson Junior Pee Wee Silver youth football team defeated the Feather River Tigers 33-0 on Saturday in Portola, Calif.


Defense player of the game was Mikel Hafeman who had a key interception and 45 yard run after the interception. Willy McDonald's stats included a caused fumble and a fumble recovery. Brandon Aikers had a knockdown and three tackles.


Zachary Kind and Sage Smith were leading tacklers for the team. The strong defensive showing was helped by the strong line of Tommie Champion, Alec Donner, Gunnar Harper, Austin Kiesow, Kurtis Scull, Jose Galindo, Ricky Streight, Anthony Gonzales, Dustin Garza, Nathan White and Rodney Calhoun.


The offense was led by quarterback Matt Nolan, who called hs own plays. Nolan had 47 passing yards and 33 yards rushing. Nolan's game was supported by his center Christopher Lopez. Cameron Arnold helped create running room for the four backs that scored in the game. The leading rusher was Nevin Elliott with 78 yards. D.J. Parker, Logan Krupp, and Andrew Gutterrez each scored a touchdown. Brandon Akers also scored on a 5-yard run.


The offensive line blocked consistently and included Andrew Cooper, Dalton Butler, Cory Wilson, Jay Milligan, Daniel Bridges, Caden Mitchell and Erich Slabaugh. Galindo also contributed to the effort as the kicker and the punter for the Silver.


Carson improved to 4-0 and will next play at 8 p.m. Friday at Governor's Field.


MITEY MITES BLUE 26, SOUTH TAHOE 19


The Carson Mitey Mites Blue came out on fire in a 26-19 win over the South Lake Vikings at South Tahoe. On the second play from scrimmage Jake Alferes scored a touchdown on a left sweep.


On the second play of Carson's next posession, Colby Brown scored a touchdown on a reverse. The offensive line comprised of Jacob Herzing, Kainnan Hamilton, Jesse Garcia, Zach Carrubba, Rossnel Dagdagan, Gage Gunzburg, Kyle Cavner and Elijah Fajayan did a paved the way. The defense led by hard hitters J.D. Sam, Christian Tercero and Eddie Zinda kept the Vikings scoreless in the first half.


In the second half, the Vikings came out re-charged and scored two touchdowns. But, the Senators' Garrett Schafer answered with a long touchdown run. The Vikings scored again and brought the score to 20-19. Late in the game when the Vikings were revving up for their final run at the Senators' Kyle Sharp of Carson intercepted a pass which set up the final score of the game by Walker Plaut. Notable defensive plays by Carson came from Sabian Harting, Asa Carter, Gerardo Lobato, Kaleb Wold, Devon Fulmer, Logan Meibert, Jared Akers, Jacob Drahos, and Brandon Maffei.


TINY MITES FALL


The Carson Senator Tiny Mites Blue lost to the Reno Raiders in which only one touchdown was scored in the game. The game was a battle at the line of scrimmage with outstanding defense from both teams. Reno scored the only touchdown on a quarterback sneak.


The Tiny Mites Blue face the Sparks Wolf Pack at 6 p.m. Friday at Sparks' Don Mello Sports Complex.
