Ronald Edward Bushey

Ronald Edward Bushey, 52, a Minden resident for the past 13 years, died Oct. 18, 2005, at home. He was born May 5, 1953, in Alturas, Calif., to Russell Meyers Bushey and Phyllis Brazelton.

He married Gail M. Bushey in Burney, Calif., in 1975.

Before moving to Minden, he lived in Burney.

He received an associate's degree in criminal justice.

Mr. Bushey was in law enforcement for 30 years. He was a sergeant for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, retiring in November 2004 on a disability. He was named Officer of the Year for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department for 1997-98 and received a meritorious service award from the Douglas County Sheriff's Department on May 18, 2001.

He was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America in Burney and Troop 16 in Carson City.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1969 in Fall River Mills, Calif.

Among his survivors are his wife and sons Brian Scott, David and Jeff, all of Minden and Russell Meyers Marsett of Reno; brother, Jake of Burney; sisters Diane Fuchs, of Chico, Calif., and Sandra Bassett, of Fallriver Mill, Calif.; mother of Redding, Calif.; two grandchildren; and numerous extended-family members.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
