Dayton softball scores 48 runs in sweep

The Dayton High softball team scored 48 runs on its way to a doubleheader sweep over North Tahoe on Saturday in Dayton.

Dayton won the opener 29-1 and the nightcap 19-6. Jessica Greer was the winning pitcher in the opener, throwing a four-hitter. Greer also had four hits, four runs and two RBI. Melony Cox also was 2-for-2 with a grand slam home run and two runs.

Also for Dayton (8-4, 7-3 in Northern 3A), Sierra Barnwell ahd two hits, three runs and two RBI, Melissa Goetz had a hit, two runs and three RBI, Nicole Iractabal was 1-for-1 with two runs and an RBI, Brittany Hill doubled and tripled and had two RBI, Breanne DeHaven had two hits, a double, three runs and a two RBI, Sara Simmons doubled, had two runs and an RBI, Brittany Burrows had two hits, a double, two runs and two RBI, Katy Cross had three hits, a double, three runs and three RBI and Toni May had a hit, a run and two RBI.

Tamara Ramirez was the winner in the nightcap. Simmons went 5-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, four runs and four RBI.

Also for Dayton, Cross had two hits, a run and an RBI, Iractabal had a hit and two runs, Hill was 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, Alicia Cox had a hit and an RBI, Greer had two hitss, two runs and two RBI, May was 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI, Amanda Beard had a hit and two runs, Ramirez went 1-for-1 with a run and Barnwell went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
