Carson City man Duane Cross won a wooden replica of a steam train raffled recently to benefit the reconstruction of the Virginia & Truckee Railway.

The Northern Nevada Railway Foundation raised $4,000 from the raffle. The wood sculpture was made from pictures of the V&T No. 18 steam engine.

Richard Engels purchased the train and donated it to the railroad foundation for the raffle. The train was appraised at one time at a value of $6,500.
