Police seek help to identify victim of fiery accident near Walker

The Mono County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help to identify the victim in a fiery, early-morning accident south of Walker, Calif.

According to Mono County Sheriff's deputy Seth Clark, the remains of a person were found at 2:16 a.m. following a accident in which a motor home, turned upside down and burned down to its frame in the southbound lanes of Highway 395 south of Deadman's Summit.

The victim's remains were found pinned beneath the driver's seat. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene and has not yet been identified due to insubstantial identification.

The summit is between Walker and Bridgeport on Highway 395.

The sheriff-coroner's department is continuing its investigation and identification of this individual will be made as soon as it is possible. Anyone with information that may lead to the identity of the victim should call the Mono County Sheriff's Department at (760) 932-7549.
