A memorial service for Ronald Ray Pelfrey, 69, a 49-year Carson City resident, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Pelfrey died Dec. 18, 2006, in Reno. He was born Jan. 9, 1937, in Cook County, W. Va., to Orville Pelfrey and Mary Smith.

He married Darla Potts on Dec. 15, 1956, in Virginia City.

He had lived in Carson City and Reno since 1957.

He was a partner in Quality Heating and Sheetmetal in Carson City, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-62.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2003, and brothers Joe and Howard Pelfrey.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, James and Sharon Pelfrey of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara Elaine and Richard Battaglia of Virginia City, Niki Luanne and Patrick Turner of Terra Bonne, Ore., and Lori Jo and Dell Chappell of Columbia, S.C.; sisters Francis, Judy and Betty of Ohio; brothers Jim and Richard of Ohio; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
