A graveside service for Monte G. Williams, 73, a Carson City resident since 1987, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley.

Mr. Williams died Feb. 5, 2006, in Carson City.

He was born May 28, 1932, in California to Loren and Wilma Williams.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Ontario, Calif.

He worked as a lineman for Southern California Edison for 32 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed gardening, sports and reading books and the newspaper.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Nel William, in 2005; brother, Loren Williams; and sisters Lorraine Archuleta and Leona Moore.

Among his survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Larry Davis of Fernley and sisters Geri McCallum of Seattle, Wash., and Tina Williams of Henderson.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
