Nevada Democrats will gather Saturday in every county in the state for precinct caucuses.

Candidates for state and local partisan races will make presentations during the caucuses, which give the first solid indication of who has the most support within the party. Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson has issued a call to his supporters to attend throughout the state and is urging the party faithful to back him for governor.

Party members will elect delegates to their county conventions and begin developing proposals for the 2006 Democratic platform.

The party's theme this year is "Turn Nevada Blue in 2006."

Carson City's caucuses for all precincts will begin at 9 a.m. at Carson Middle School.

Douglas has caucuses at Douglas High School and the Lake branch of the county library.
