Two men stranded in a P.T. Cruiser on Sunrise Pass were rescued by search and rescue crews early Thursday morning.

According to Capt. Jeff Page of the Lyon County Sheriff's Department, a call came in to Douglas County dispatchers at 11:30 p.m. in which a man claimed he and a friend were stranded 30 miles off Johnson Lane.

Douglas County sent out crews and requested assistance from Lyon County Search and Rescue since both counties have jurisdiction over portions of the Pine Nut Mountain range.

Attempts to call the cell phone back were unsuccessful because the battery needed to be charged.

The search went on for about two hours before Douglas County crews located the vehicle and its occupants unharmed about 1:49 a.m.
