TRUCKEE (Appeal News Service) - A male snowboarder died Friday afternoon after an accident at Squaw Valley USA.

Details are unclear about Thomas Reyneri, who suffered serious injuries as a result of an apparent fall into a drainage ditch below the Headwall chairlift, according to Savannah Cowley, director of media and public relations for Squaw Valley Ski Corp.

Reyneri, whose age and hometown were not confirmed, was taken by Care Flight helicopter to Washoe Medical Center in Reno where he died of unknown injuries shortly after, said Washoe County Coroner Vernon McCarty.

A senior Squaw Valley ski patroller found Reyneri when he stopped to inspect a fallen fence where the snowboarder had apparently crashed. There were no witnesses to the accident, said Michael Gross, director of risk management for Squaw.

Another ski patroller and a doctor administered CPR until Care Flight arrived.
