A funeral for Louis E. Starrh, 84, a Gardnerville resident for 29 years, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church.

Mr. Starrh died Jan. 20, 2006. He was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Rigby, Idaho, to George and Mary Starrh.

He farmed in Hanford, Calif., for many years, then semi-retired to South Lake Tahoe as a business owner. He retired to Gardnerville in 1977.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a past master of Masonic Douglas Lodge 12 F&AM and a lifetime member. He was a member of Hanford Lodge No. 74; Knight York Cross of Honor Nevada Priory No. 50; past high priest and life member Lewis Chapter 1 Carson City, Order of High Priesthood; and past illustrious master and life member KYGCH Capitol Council No. 7 Carson City, Order of the Silver Trowel.

He was General Grand Council R&SM Cryptic Mason of the Year; past commander and life member of E.C. Peterson Commandry No. 8 Carson City; past Preceptor Holy Royal Arch Knight Templer Priesthood, Kerak Shrine Temple; charter member of the Carson Valley Shrine Club; Yorkrite College; and honorary life member of Carson Valley No. 33 F&AM Gardnerville.

He enjoyed family, farming and his lodge activities.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther; second wife, Lucille; granddaughter Kelly Wilson; brothers Irwin and Gerald; and sisters Loa Grainger and Ella May Starrh.

Among his survivors are his wife, Theresa of Gardnerville; daughter Loa Booth of Gardnerville; son and daughter-in-law Arthur and Arlene of Aptos, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Gary Wilson of Gardnerville; stepchildren William and Susan O'Niel of Carson City, Judy White of Philadelphia, Bob and Julie Blumenthal of Gardnerville and Jane and Joe Plemons of Maryland; brother Fred of Shafter, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
