Fire crews from nine agencies accompanied by six air tankers and two helicopters are battling gusty winds to control a 215-acre blaze near the Carson City landfill.

As of 5 p.m., the Flint fire was listed as 40 percent contained with no estimate on when full containment will be achieved.

Crews are focusing on the south flank of the fire, near Brunswick Canyon, and access to the canyon is restricted to fire personnel and apparatus. Lyon County is providing structural protection to homes on the south side of Highway 50 in Mound House. Homeowners are being advised to be prepared, but no evacuations are expected at this time

Crews had hoped to contain the fire by 3:30 p.m. but winds caused a blow out, preventing containment.
