Gottschalks Inc. (NYSE: GOT) announced Thursday that same-store sales for the month of June increased 0.3 percent from the prior year.


Total sales for the month increased 0.5 percent to $61.0 million, compared to total sales of $60.8 million in June 2005.


On a year-to-date-basis, same store sales increased 0.2 percent from the same period of fiscal 2005.


Total sales increased 0.5 percent to $253.5 million, compared to $252.2 million for the same period of fiscal 2005.




Carson Tahoe receives design merit award


Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center recently received the prestigious Citation of Merit award, issued by Healthcare Design 2006 Architectural Review.


The national award is designated by a review panel appointed by the Center for Health Design. Of 230 competing projects, six were issued a Citation of Merit.




I-80 interchange to go out for bid Thursday


Reno Engineering and the Nevada Division of Transportation have finalized plans for the Interstate 80 interchange into the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, and it will go out for bid Thursday.


The interchange will be similar to those on I-80 for Sparks and Vista boulevards, and will allow traffic to exit directly from the freeway onto the USA Parkway, which cuts through the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.


USA Parkway will eventually link I-80 with Highway 50 at Silver Springs.




'05 UNR graduate joins R&R Partners


R&R Partners, an advertising and public relations agency, has hired University of Nevada, Reno graduate Mike Earle as an assistant account executive.


He will be working with a variety of clients, such as Berry Hinckley Industries, HomeCrafters and Allison Automotive Group.


Earle graduated from UNR in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in advertising and a minor in marketing.


While at UNR, he completed an internship with DRGM Advertising.


He is a member of the American Planning Association, the Charity Smith Organization and the Red Cross Disaster Relief Effort.
