Carson City


Mini-burden basket workshop Saturday


Karen Rosselli, a master teacher from the Great Basin Basketmakers, will be teaching participants how to make a decorative wall basket from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada State Museum.


The workshop is suitable for all levels of experience but preregistration is required and space is limited to 15 participants. The $30 fee covers all materials.


Students should bring pointed, small scissors, a small awl or packing tool, smooth-jaw pliers or lacing pliers, a small towel, a small dishpan, and a spray bottle, and a sack lunch. Call (530) 544-5145 or e-mail abrilliantidea@cs.com. The museum is at 600 N. Carson St.


Meet and greet candidate for judge


Supporters of District Judge Nancy Saitta's candidacy for the Nevada Supreme Court will be hosting a reception at noon Friday at Glen Eagles Restaurant on North Carson Street. Saitta is one of four candidates for Seat G on the Nevada Supreme Court. She moved to Nevada 16 years ago.

'Curse of the Hanging Tree' to play


"The Curse of the Hanging Tree" a comedic melodrama based on an actual event that took place in Douglas County more than 100 years ago, will show at 6:30 and 7:15 p.m. Friday and 6, 6:45 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Genoa Town Hall. Tickets are $15 per person and proceeds go to benefit the Douglas County Historical Society.




DAWG to sponsor adoption event


The Douglas Animal Welfare Group's dog adoption event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Petco, at Highway 395 and Topsy Lane in north Douglas County. All dogs are current on shots. Call 267-7325 or visit www.dawgrescue.com.

'Serenade Under the Stars' this Friday


Harpist Bev Colgan and vibraphonist Joe Venuto will serenade participants in the Good Vibrations campfire program starting at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Galena Creek Regional Park. Call 849-2511.




'A Man and his Guitar' coming to Bowers Mansion


Original and cover tunes will be played by Dave Fritz at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bowers Mansion as part of the Programs from the Porch series. All Programs from the Porch events are free. Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a picnic dinner. Call 849-1825.




'Ice-Hot Cars' in Reno this weekend


The National Automobile Museum in Reno will be featuring "Ice-Hot Cars" from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.


This free event will feature fun for everyone. Ice cream sundaes and root beer floats will be available for $1.
