A funeral service for Frank L. Woomer, 77, a 28-year Carson City resident, will be 10 a.m. today at the Masonic Memorial Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 437 Stoker Ave. in Reno.

Mr. Woomer died July 20, 2006, at his home. He was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Parkersburg, W.Va., to Homer S. Woomer and Virginia Bohn.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Woomer lived in Marin County, Calif.

He served with the San Francisco Police Department for 30 years and the Carson City Sheriff's Department for 14 years.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He had received a Purple Heart from the San Francisco Police Department, was a member of Carson Lodge No. 1 F&AM and Scottish Rite and Shriners.

Among his survivors are his wife of 46 years, Irene Woomer, of Carson City; sons and daughters-in-law Dann and Rosana Woomer of Minden and Mickey and Heather Woomer of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Pamela and Mark Regan of Carson City, and Denise and John Howard of Sparks; daughters Karon McDaniel of Carson City, and Charlene Randall of Oregon; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Entombment will follow the services at the Masonic Memorial Gardens.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
