Nevada Yankees sweep doubleheader

It may have not been a thing of beauty, but former Carson High standout Wes Osmer was able to pitch a complete game three-hit shutout as the Nevada Yankees swept a doubleheader against the Chico Sabres on Saturday at Ron McNutt Field.

Western Nevada Community College's Jesse Rasner pitched a complete game in the opener as the Yankees won 6-3. Despite walking eight batters, Osmer was able to work out of several jams in a 4-0 win in the nightcap.

Rasner allowed seven hits while striking out seven and walking two over seven innings. Ryan Simpson was 2-for-3 with a double an an RBI, Brian Peat, former CHS standout Eric Melendez and Wes Osmer all had a hit and an RBI and Jeff Young added a hit.

Osmer finished with six strikeouts in the nightcap. Young was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Peat had a hit and an RBI. The Yankees will next play the Reno Astros at 7 7 p.m. Wednesday at Moana Stadium.
