Chamber of Commerce holds after-hours mixer


The Carson City Chamber of Commerce will hold a free after-hours mixer from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Nevada Property Mortgage, 2310 So. Carson St. Hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar will be available.

'Wild Sage' plays St. Patrick's Day concert at Comma Coffee


Wild Sage and the Miriam Blanchette School of Irish Dance, along with Comma Coffee, will be hosting a St. Paddy's Day Concert at Comma Coffee at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is free, but donations for the band and school will be accepted. This is a family-friendly event.


There will be jigs, reels, hornpipes, and waltzes.

State Museum hosts Women's History Month


The Nevada State Museum's Store is hosting a Women's History Month reception and book signing from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday


Attending the reception will be several authors, including Patty Cafferata, Jan Cleere, Barbara Gegne, Sheila Lonie, Jan Pierson, Dixie Westergard and Sally Zanjani.

Carson City Democrats hold meeting with Titus


The Carson City Democrats will be holding a meeting with State Sen. Dina Titus ,D-Las Vegas, gubernatorial candidate, at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Archeology discussed at watershed meeting


Archaeology will be the topic of the Clear Creek Watershed Council's March meeting.


Gregory Haynes of the U.S. Forest Service will talk about the archaeology in the Carson Range and the Clear Creek watershed.


The meeting will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jacks Valley Elementary School library.

Singles group opens Carson Valley chapter


Tahoe Singles has formed a chapter in the Carson Valley which meets at 5 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of every month at Fiona's in Minden. The next meeting will be this week.


Tahoe Singles is a social and philanthropic group for singles aged 40 and above.

Young at Heart holds 'You Pick It' raffle


The Young at Heart Senior Club will be holding a U-Pick-It Raffle from 9-11:30 a.m. March 15 at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville.


This raffle is similar to a garage sale; tickets are purchased, one for $1 or 6 for $5, and participants put a ticket with their name in containers near items they want. Then a raffle is held.


The public is invited to attend.

Free gardening without pain workshop


The UNR Cooperative Extension will be holding a free gardening workshop entitled "Gardening is a full-contact sport," designed to help participants learn how to garden without the pain. This class will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Bartley Ranch in Reno. It is part of the "Gardening in Nevada" series of free classes. For information, call 784-4848.

Tuesday kayak-roll sessions start March 21


Kayak- roll sessions are taking place every Tuesday March 21 through June 28 from 8 - 9:30 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation & Swim Pool Complex. Cost is $5 per person per date and you must supply your own kayak. There will be a lifeguard on deck.
