Jean D. Fixmer, 87, a Carson City resident since 1961, died March 15, 2006, in Reno.

Mrs. Fixmer was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Ventura, Calif., to James V. DewHurst and Nancy C. Hall.

She married Harry Hein in 1935 at St. Peter's Cathedral in Los Angeles.

She married Ernest Fixmer at Lake Tahoe in 1960.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in South Lake Tahoe for 16 years.

She worked for the U.S. Postal Service at South Lake Tahoe for nine years.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1953 at South Lake Tahoe.

Among her survivors are her husband of Carson City; son, Harry Hein and his wife, Sharon, of Carson City; daughter, Charlotte Hawkins of Denver; sister, Mary Lou Dye of Wellington, Ariz.; brother, Jim DewHurst of California; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Cremation took place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.

Those wishing to remember Mrs. Fixmer may plant a rosebush in her honor.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
