BAC hosts open auditions of 'Love's Labor's Lost'


Auditions for the Brewery Arts Center's production of "Love's Labor's Lost" are at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the BAC Performance Hall. Auditions consist of cold readings from Shakespeare's play.


All roles are open and include men and boys of all ages and women ages 18-40. Call 883-1976.


Carson ATA and Code Amber hold child safety day


Carson ATA - Karate for Kids, in conjunction with Code Amber and Amber Alert, will be holding a Child Safety Day and abduction safety seminar at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. April 1 at the Carson ATA Black Belt Academy.


Cost is $5 and each child gets a free Safety NET DVD, valued at $20, to teach them how to say no to strangers, and they will be fingerprinted by the Carson City Sheriff's Department. The first 100 children to register will receive a free Safety NET T-shirt sponsored by McDonalds.


Parents should register their children by March 25. Only 200 spots are currently available.

Volunteer coaches, referees needed for NFL flag football


Volunteer coaches are needed for the Boys & Girls Club NFL Flag Football. Coaches must be 18 or older.


There are four teams: 7-8 co-ed, 9-11 co-ed, 12-14 boys and 12-14 girls.


Certified referees are needed as well, starting March 31.


Interested applicants can call the Boys & Girls Club Athletic Director as soon as possible at 882-8820 ext. 28.


Brewery Arts Center presents 'Blaguards'


The Brewery Arts Center presents "A Couple of Blaguards," by Frank and Malachy McCourt. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, March 31 and April 1 in the BAC performance hall. Tickets are $22 general and $18 BAC members, seniors, and students.

Senior Center to hold monthly dance


The Carson City Senior Center will be holding a senior dance from 7-10 p.m. April 8, featuring free dance lessons by Thane Cornell from 6-7 p.m.


There will be refreshments and a no-host wine bar. The Carson City Senior Center is located at 911 Beverly Dr. Call 883-0703.

Carson Valley Art Association to meet


The Carson Valley Art Association will hold its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Minden Library. Pastel artists Arlene Origoni will be this month's demonstrator.

County plans drug awareness night


From 5:30 -8 p.m. Thursday, in the Hugh Gallagher multipurpose room, residents can learn the signs and risks of methamphetamine usage, as well as how to get help. The community chest will provide free baby-sitting.

Green building expo comes to Tahoe


The Tahoe Green Building Expo, a combination of trade show and conference and sponsored by the Tahoe Regional Environmental Education group, will be 3-7 p.m. for the trade show and from 5:15-9 p.m. for the conference Thursday.
