A memorial service for Verley Wardell Frey, 92, a three-year Gardnerville resident, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Robb Drive Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Reno. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Mrs. Frey died March 14, 2006, at the Carson Valley Residential Care Center in Gardnerville. She was born Dec. 23, 1913 in Vernal, Utah, to Leo Down Young and Ella Draper.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Verdi for 50 years.

She married Buck Wardell on Oct. 8, 1935, in Utah.

She married Fred Frey in Reno.

She was a waitress, a seamstress, a bookkeeper and a welder during World War II. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Rebekahs, and Verdi Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Dec. 9, 1971, in Reno; by her second husband in Reno; daughter Rochelle in 1941; and four brothers.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Robert Gardner of Minden; brother Hugh Young, of Florida; two uncles; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Burial will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno.

Mountain View Mortuary in Reno is in charge of arrangements.
