Throughout today area law enforcement agencies will be running a joint training exercises at the now-closed Bodine's Restaurant at Old Clear Creek Road and Highway 395.
Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong said uniformed SWAT members from Douglas County, Carson City and various state law enforcement agencies will be on hand as part of an exercise in agency cooperation should a major incident occur.
"We are telling people so that no one in the area is alarmed by the significantly larger presence of law enforcement or whatever sounds or sights are coming from the area," Furlong said.
"This is not a show. We really don't want people piling up down there to watch. This is an exercise. Bodine's being slated for demolition gives us the opportunity to train in urban high-risk conditions."
