Carson's Brown, Steele hold their own in bowling

Carson City's Evelyn Brown and Renee Steele are holding their own in their divisions at the United States Bowling Congress Women's Championships presented by the Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus being held at Reno's National Bowling Stadium.

In Division IV doubles, Evelyn Brown and Sparks' Janet Brown are in fourth with a score of 858. Steele is in second in singles and all events in the Classic division with scores of 639 and 1,851, respectively.

More than 55,000 women will compete in the Women's Championships through July 2. Admission is free with team, doubles and singles competition normally taking place at 7:30 a.m., 11, 2:30 p.m., 7:30 and 10:30 seven days a week.
