Virtually all of the nonprofit organizations that sought money from Carson City received something Thursday as the board of supervisors finalized its budget for 2006-07.

Supervisors this fiscal year gave $290,000 - $100,000 of which is slated for one-time expenses - to 13 groups. However, some of the officials are saying they would like to know what the groups are doing with the money.

Groups that received more money than last year include the Community Counseling Center. It received $55,000 this year, $8,000 more than last year.

Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program received $35,000, an increase of $3,000.

Nevada Hispanic Services received an increase of $5,000, to $31,000.

The Carson City Symphony Association this year will receive $3,000 to expand its music program for children. Last year they received $1,000 to help start the program.

The Carson City Library Foundation also will receive $2,000. It sought money to help pay for its annual Oktoberfest fundraiser. It received nothing last year.

The Carson Valley Conservation District received $4,000 in each year.

City staff will compile a report for the supervisors on the work of the nonprofits.
