A memorial service for Alice June Haskins, 72, a longtime Mason Valley resident, will be at 5 p.m. May 25 at the Yerington Vineyard Church, 307 Broadway Ave.

Mrs. Haskins died May 3, 2006, at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington after a 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Dec. 25, 1933, in Bisbee, Ariz., to Alvin and Lizzie Carter.

Her father was a miner, and the family moved from mining camp to mining camp. When she was 16, her family moved to Anaconda's Tecopa mine.

She married Carrol Haskins on July 26, 1950, in Las Vegas.

Mrs. Haskins drove a school bus and was a transportation assistant for Lyon County School District for more than 31 years. She retired in 1999.

She enjoyed gardening, crafts, music, and being with family and friends.

Among her survivors are her husband of Yerington; sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Mary Haskins of Noxon, Mont., and Timothy and Tina Haskins of Troy, N.Y.; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Bull of Yerington; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Burial will take place at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington is in charge of arrangements.
