Guinn proclaims Wildland Fire Awareness Week

Gov. Kenny Guinn has proclaimed May 20-26 as Nevada Wildland Fire Awareness Week, encouraging all residents to learn more about what they can do to better protect their homes and families against the threat of wildfire. There are several activities planned.

Carson City


Airport Authority meets tonight at El Aero


The Carson City Airport Authority will meet at 6 p.m. today in the conference room at El Aero Services, 2101 Arrowhead Dr.


Scheduled actions include: Potentially approving tentative budget and Class 2 FBO status of Maverick Aviation as Part 135 operation for conducting charter flights; discussion and possible action regarding emergency repairs and maintenance to north ramp, the master plan, airport layout plan, benefit cost analysis and environmental assessment; and, Cubix's lease.




Children's Museum offers free admission today

Daughters of Norway to meet at St. Paul's

Rifle and pistol range closed part of Saturday


The Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range, 400 Flint Drive, will be closed to the public from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday for cleaning and will open for normal operations at 4:30 p.m. the same day. For information, call 887-2115.




Visitors and Convention Bureau meets today


The Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau will hold a special meeting at 11 a.m. today.


Items on the agenda include discussion and possible approval of the general, V&T capital project and park bond capital project funds; cancellation of the September 2004 interlocal agreement between the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T Railway and the bureau by releasing the balance of the $1.34 million bond to the commission.

RTC routes to change for Memorial Day holiday


The public transit services provided by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) will be modified for the Memorial Day observance. Riders of RTC RIDE (formerly Citifare) and RTC INTERCITY (Formerly PRIDE) should note the schedule changes. RTC RIDE will operate in the Reno/Sparks area on a Sunday schedule. RTC INTERCITY, the service that travels between Carson City and Reno, will not be operating on Memorial Day.
