Carson City's Wild West roots exposed

Railroad museum offers free rides for servicemen


The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City will be offering free train rides to servicemen, active duty, retired and veterans this weekend to thank them for their service. The museum will be open regular hours all weekend and will be open for Memorial Day's observance on Monday. For information, call the museum at 687-6953.




Third street closed for Wild West Tour


Third Street between South Curry and Carson streets will be closed 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday for the annual Wild West Tour.


The tours begin at this location rather than the Nevada State Museum.

United Blood Services hold Memorial Day drive


The United Blood Services will be holding a blood drive barbecue on Memorial Day this Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their office at 256 E. Winnie Lane. DAWG holds "used pet sale"


The Douglas Animal Welfare Group will be holding the "used pet sale" adoption event at the Douglas County Animal Shelter, 921 Pinenut Road from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday. There is a free spay or neuter with every adoption from this event. Call 267-7325.

Lyon County Museum anniversary celebration this weekend


The Lyon County Museum will be celebrating its anniversary 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at 215 S. Main St. in Yerington. The museum was opened in 1978. Music, refreshments and tours will be provided.

Log flume ride at Rancho San Rafael free this weekend

Meet "Foley the Friendly Sheep" Saturday
