'Tis the season for holiday craft fairs

St. Peter's Episcopal Church annual Christmas Bazaar, corner of Division and Telegraph streets.

"In some fashion, the women of St. Peter's have been doing this - selling food and putting dances together - since the 1870s as a way to support the parish," said Kim Morgan, organizer.

Santa's Village can be found at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center. All items are made by seniors and include baby stuff, quilts, afghans, lots of jewelry, Santa's Candy Shop, baked goods, boa scarves, wreaths, trim-a-tree ornaments and the popular chili bar.

First United Methodist Church Holiday Faire is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Division and Musser streets.

"We have bird houses, ornaments, nativity scenes, aprons and other knitted things," said Sandy Hartman, organizer. "Profits will be used for local elder care and scholarships."

Holiday Fair at Stewart Community Center. Features authentic silver and turquoise, handmade items, beaded artwork, candles, holiday gifts and decor.

"And of course we have Indian tacos and other food and refreshments available," said Ada Johnson, organizer.

Carson High School Holiday Craft Fair boasts more than 100 crafters and artisans. Photos with Santa Claus, elves, folk art, landscape photography, vests and polar fleece filling up the big and small gyms. Proceeds go to student programs at CHS.

"I'm glad to see Carson City's becoming a craft-fair area," said Kelly Clark, organizer with PTSA.

Christmas Craft & Gift Faire and Book Sale by Friends of the Dayton Valley Library is Nov. 18-19 at Dayton High School, 335 Old Dayton Valley Road.

"We have more than 70 booths of craft and gifts items, Santa and Mrs. Claus, free crafts for the children, silent auction and the largest book sale of the year," said Lynne Ballatore, organizer.

Proceeds go to support programs and prepare for building expansion.
