Seeds for Carson players in tennis

Carson High's top singles and doubles players in boys and girls tennis received favorable draws for this week's Northern 4A individual championships.

In doubles for the boys, Brad Cobler and Bryt Lewis have received the Sierra League's No. 2 seed. They would need to beat a team from Truckee and likely the High Desert League's No. 7 seed from Reed to reach the quarterfinals.

Nick Smallman and Chris Wear received the No. 4 seed and would need to beat a team from Manogue and the High Desert's No. 5 seed from Spanish Springs to reach the quarterfinals. James Pelz and Jordan Rogers are unseeded and will play the High Desert's No. 6 seed, Galena's Doug Dussaq and Joey Prescott in the first round.

In singles, Spencer Brinson is seeded No. 5 and needs to beat a player from Galena and the winner between his teammate Grant Jeppson and a player from Manogue to make it to the quarterfinals.

Jeff Van Epps is seeded No. 7. If he beats a player from Truckee, he would likely play Galena's Collin Davis, the High Desert's No. 2 seed.

For the girls, Emily Wang and Kristin Charles are seeded No. 8 in doubles. With a win over a a team from Galena, Wang and Charles would play either teammates Sarah Asp and Michelle Mauer or the High Desert's No. 1 seed.

In singles, Christa Casci is the No. 3 seed and would need to beat a player from Spanish Springs and likely a player she's already beaten from Wooster to make the quarterfinals. That could set up a match with Galena's Sierra Leeder.

No. 7 seed Lisa Midboe could meet Casci in the quarterfinals if she beats a player from Sparks and likely Leeder in the next round.

The singles begin today and the doubles start on Friday at Reno's Plumas Tennis Center.

CHSwinter sports meeting is Oct. 16

The Carson High winter sports informational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at Morse Burley Gym. All parents and students who will be involved in winter sports should attend. Winter sports offered are boys and girls basketball, wrestling and boys and girls skiing.
