Romaine F. Johnson, 91, a Carson City resident since 1978, died Oct. 14, 2006, in Reno.

Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Wapeton, N.D., to Fredrick W. Johnson and Lillian Peterson Johnson.

He married Lois Harris in 1941 in Cut Bank, Mont.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Johnson lived in Oakland, Calif., from 1952-78.

He graduated from high school in Minneapolis.

He was a landscape foreman for the Oakland Parks Department from 1956-78, and a custodian for the Carson City School District from 1979-98.

He served in the U.S. Army prior to World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Evan Johnson of Carson City; and grandson, Jeremy Johnson.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
