Marguerite 'Peggy' Dehné

Marguerite "Peggy" Dehné, 96, a 40-year Carson City resident, died Oct. 21, 2006, in Carson City.

Mrs. Dehné was born July 16, 1910, in Grand Forks, N.D.

She was a clerical assistant for Occidental Life.

She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross; had received accreditation from the Library of Congress as a Certified Braillist, and transcribed school textbooks into Braille for visually challenged children.

She was the president of the Doctors' Wives group; was president of Officers' Wives; president of St. Anne's Guild; president of the Carson Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary and was an active member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, where she played the organ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Dr. Edward J. Dehné, and by son Donald L. Dehné.

Among her survivors are her son Denis "Sam" Dehné of Reno; daughter Ilani Ann Donley of Edgewood, Md.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Cremation will be followed by burial in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., with her husband.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church or the New Hope Pet Alliance through Carson City Animal Services.
