Carson City


Vendors wanted for Nevada Day parade


Nevada Day, Inc. is seeking vendors for the Nevada Day Parade Route. The parade will be held Oct. 28, 2006 along Carson Street. Food and merchandise vendors are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is Oct. 13. For information, call 882-7207.




Redevelopment citizens panel meets


The Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the Capitol Conference Room, City Hall, 201 N. Carson St.


Topics include considering whether to restrict parking on Musser between Division and Carson streets, discussing the creation of an urban code, and watching the downtown virtual tour presentation.




Historic Resources Commission meets Thursday


The Historic Resources Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room at the Community Center, 851 E. William St.


Items include actions to approve historical tax deferment for owners of the Hyman-Olcovich house and possible grant programs that would be of potential local benefit.




BLM and Kiwanis need river cleanup volunteers


The Bureau of Land Management and the Kiwanis Club of Carson City are seeking local clubs, organizations and individuals to join them from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 23 for the annual Carson River Cleanup.


The cleanup base camp will be the west parking lot of the BLM Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road.


A free hamburger and pizza lunch will be served to volunteers at 1 p.m. Workers should bring heavy gloves, eye protection, a hat, wear long pants, sunscreen and insect repellent.


Volunteers under the age of 18 will need a permission slip signed by a parent.

Natives and Newcomers to meet


The Carson City Natives and Newcomers will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Carson Nugget's banquet room. There will be a buffet luncheon and meeting. Guests are welcome to attend.

Caregivers' Support Group to meet


The Minden Caregivers' Support Group for Dementia will be having a meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Douglas County Senior Center. All who are interested may attend. For information, call the Douglas County Senior Center at 783-6455.




Lyon County


Misfits to hold open auditions


The Misfits Theatre Group will be holding open auditions for roles in their new 40's melodrama, "High Jinks on the Home Front or Who Gets the Gizmo" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dayton Branch of the Lyon County Library. Rehearsals will be Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons, with performances Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18.
