The deadline for taxes has moved to April 17 this year because of Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in the District of Columbia. April 15 is a Sunday. Taxpayers can file electronically using www.irs.gov and request direct deposit.


Taxpayers can also visit the IRS Web site and click the "where's my refund?" link to find out the status of their refund.


They are also asked to remember the Long Distance Telephone Excise Tax Refund, and to file an extension if extra time is needed. For information, call 1 (800) 829-1040.




Carson City agent tops Coldwell for second year


Commercial sales and leasing agent Andie Wilson, CCIM, earned the 2006 Top Nevada Agent award from Coldwell Banker Commercial for the second year in a row.


She is a founding member of the Carson City offices and has been selling and leasing commercial property for more than 10 years with her partner, Brad Bonkowski, CCIM. She is the current president of CREW, a board member for NAIOP, and will serve as the 2008 President of the Northern Nevada Chapter of CCIM.


Bonkowski is the current president of the Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors and sits on the Board of Directors for the Nevada Association of Realtors.


The team has offices at the new Coldwell Banker location at 223 S. Division St.




Wingstop restaurant chain eyes Carson


Wingstop, a chicken wing franchise that features cooked-to-order wings, has plans to open restaurants in Carson City.


The company has more than 450 restaurants open or under development in 27 states. They have been recognized at the National Buffalo Wing Festival.

Maldonado named supervisor at D&D


D&D Roofing and Sheet Metal has named Alan Maldonado as the company's new residential supervisor. Maldonado was born and raised in the Reno/Sparks area and started working in the construction field in 1979.


He worked in law enforcement briefly and returned to D&D, being named project superintendent at the company's Northstar job.




Greater Nevada adds management


Greater Nevada Credit Union has announced its new Board of Directors. This new board is comprised of Bill Arensdorf, Board Chair; Rob Joiner, Vice Chair; Shirley Faiella, Secretary; Paul Richey, Treasurer; Vernon Dalton, Director; Marilyn Koschella, Director and Steve Watson, Director. Each member serves a three year term.


The credit union has also added two people to its management team. Lorrie Hadlock has been hired as the manager for the Second Street and North Carson branches. She will be responsible for the business development of the market for the locations, in addition to more traditional branch management tasks. She has 31 years of management experience in the financial industry.


Andrea Merren has been hired as manager for the Eagle Station branch. She has ten years of financial industry experience, most recently as a branch manager for a national bank in Gardnerville.




Barrick's annual report available


Barrick Gold Corporation has announced that its 2006 Annual Report is now available on SEDAR and on EDGAR. In addition, a Form 40-F report has been filed with the SEC and is available on EDGAR. Both reports may also be viewed at www.barrick.com.




BAWN adds 11 new members in March


The Builders Association of Western Nevada added 11 new members to it's rolls in March, nearing the 650-member mark.
