A funeral for Alva Deloris Kangas, 77, an 11-year Gardnerville resident, will be 11 a.m. Friday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. Viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, Calif.

Mrs. Kangas died April 6, 2007, in Reno. She was born March 16, 1930, in Farmington, Mich., to Alvin B. and Florence M. Chaney.

She married LeRoy "Bill" Kangas on Dec. 25, 1951, in Quartzsite, Ariz.

Before moving to Gardnerville, Mrs. Kangas lived in Hayward, Calif.

She was a graduate of Coachella Valley High School, and worked as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of the Doe's and a member of the United Methodist Church in Hayward.

She was preceded in death by her husband; by daughter Susanna Jean Kangas and by sisters Eleanor Smith and Marceline Rea.

Among her survivors are daughter and son-in-law Charlotte M. and Larry Jackson of Union City, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Carey S. and Annette Kangas of Gardnerville; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
