Raymond F. Duffield, 86, a 39-year Carson City resident, died April 17, 2007, in Carson City.

Mr. Duffield was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Camden, N.J., to George J. Duffield and Marie Benicke.

He owned and operated Little Jo Opal Mine in Northern Nevada.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of PERS No. 1 of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Duffield, in 1990.

Among his survivors are grandson Brian Duffield of Little Rock, Ark.; granddaughters Sgt. Angela Newby of Brooks Air Force Base, San Antonio and Jennifer Leavitt of New Jersey, and several friends.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory. At his request, no services will be held.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
