A viewing for Harold W. Witte, 97, a 34-year resident of Gardnerville, will be from 6-8 p.m. today at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at FitzHenry's.

Mr. Witte died Aug. 24, 2007, at his home. He was born Feb. 1, 1910, to Carl Witte and Amelia Bolling in Muscatine, Iowa.

Before moving to Gardnerville he lived in South Gate, Calif.

Mr. Witte married Lucille Seltzer on Feb. 16, 1929, in LaGrange, Ill.

He was an electrician and foreman at Glass Containers, retiring in 1973 after 29 years. He was a member of Valley Springs Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers Ray and Don Witte; sister Jeanette Glasgow; son-in-law Dennis Rusler; and granddaughter Robby Rusler.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Donna Witte; daughter Joyce Rusler; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one niece and three nephews.

Burial will be at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arraignments.
