Plans are in the works to extend the USA Parkway expressway in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center another four miles to open up phase three of the massive industrial complex.

Staking the route of the extension is expected to begin shortly followed by grading over what is currently a dirt road to turn it into an extension of the four-lane USA Parkway, the main thoroughfare through TRI, which will eventually be 18 miles long stretching from I-80 to Highway 50. When the extension is completed next year the Parkway will be nine miles long or half way to Highway 50.

The new route will climb up over several rises and down into a 5,000-acre nearly flat valley called Bittleman Flats, which will become phase three of the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

When it is built out, the 104,000-acre Tahoe Reno Industrial Center will be the largest industrial complex in the world.
