Two people hurt in a fatal crash involving four vehicles on Highway 50 East in Dayton over the weekend remained in stable-but-critical condition Monday at a Reno hospital, authorities said.
Olivia Eddy, 22, of Dayton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash two miles east of Smith's just after 1 a.m. Saturday, the Nevada Highway Patrol said Monday.
She was driving a 2002 Hyundai that was struck by an oncoming pickup driven by Timothy Larson, 21, of Dayton.
Larson and a passenger in his 1986 Chevrolet pickup suffered serious injuries and were transported via Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center. The name of the passenger was being withheld because he is a minor and could be charged with a crime, said Sgt. John Schilling.
Eddy's car was then struck from behind by a Mazda sedan driven by 24-year-old Dawn Glider of Dayton and then by a Ford truck driven by her husband, Robert Glider, 25. All four vehicles came to a stop in the westbound travel lanes, causing the partial closure of the highway for about four hours.
Dawn Gilder was taken by ambulance to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Her front-seat passenger, Holly Thomsen, was not injured, Schilling said, nor was Robert Glider.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the 1 a.m. accident, troopers said, but no arrests have been made.
