When JoJo Townsell had a vision to open a Boys & Girls Club of Carson Valley six years ago, he had no idea how many people would latch onto the project.

Things are steadily moving toward the realization of Townsell's dream.

One week after signing a charter with the Western Nevada Boys & Girls Club to open services in the Carson Valley, the community has already stepped up with a sizable donation.

The Carson Valley Active 20/30 Club No. 85 announced it will donate $5,000 in cash and an indefinite amount of time to the club. It is one of the club's largest monetary donations ever.

The 20/30 club has also pledged to partner and support the project for ongoing operations of the Boys & Girls Club.

The club aims to open a satellite operation in an existing building to begin serving youth this year.

"We hope this donation will enable all children to enjoy and benefit from the important programs the Carson Valley club will offer," said Active 20/30 president Ryan Albert.

To celebrate the donation, members of both clubs met and got to know each other for a few hours.

"We are overwhelmed with the incredible generosity of the Active 20/30 Club, which has served the children of the valley for over 70 years," Townsell said.

"Our purpose is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
