A memorial service for Julie Sroufe, 85, of Reno, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.

Mrs. Sroufe died Jan. 14, 2007.

She was born in Wisconsin on Jan. 16, 1921, to Pasqual and Anamarie Sirianni.

She moved to Southern California as a young child.

In 1940, she married the love of her life, Louis Sroufe. Together they raised their only daughter, Kathryn Louise.

Mrs. Sroufe was a day-care director with certified training from UCLA. She was also a piano player and musician who could play by ear.

She enjoyed children, making friends, and singing to entertain her family and friends. She had faith in Jesus.

After her husband retired, they moved to Reno to be close to their grandchildren, where she volunteered at Washoe Medical Center for more than 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; eight brothers and sisters; and many lifelong friends.

She is survived by her brother George; sister Clarice; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn Louise and Steve Storey; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
