YERINGTON 49, SPARKS 48

The Lions (18-4, 7-2) trailed 23-16, but outscored Sparks 19-9 in the third quarter to take a 35-32 lead. Yerington then held on at the end as James Roberts blocked a shot and Garey Smith grabbed the rebound as time ran out. Yerington now has a state-leading 18 wins.

"We responded," Yerington coach Daron Wildermuth said. "We answered the bell so to speak. We just performed better the second half.

Smith scored 17 points, Casey Wildermuth had 13 points and Marcus Kness added 10 points for Yerington. Sparks' Zach Quilici scored 25 points, but was held to two points in the third quarter.
